John Moxey sitting with his guitar

Welcome

I'm a singer, songwriter and musician based in Scotland. I'm not signed to a label or publishing house but I have what i think are good songs to share with you. Time was when I tried to present an image to the public that was a wishful thinking version of who I am, and what I do, but with so much spin from labels etc. I've decided to tell it like it is and shrug off the fairy tale.

So here it is. I've many years of playing and writing experience and did harbor the idea that one day I would release an album, hopefully on CD. Life has a habit of throwing yuo a curve ball, and an accident in 1990 left me with a spinal injury that has plagued me ever since. It's stopped me gigging (last in 2000) and now it has been causing problems with playing for any length of time. Where there is a will there is a way though, and while there is hope perhaps there is a way ahead.

I planned on recording an album of songs with the ain of releasing the songs online and on CD at the begining of 2008. It's an old plan and somewhat out of date. The songs are written but I am having problems getting the songs recorded because of continuing problems with my back stopping me spending time in the studio. I always used to do my own recording, and production, but no more. As a result the newer songs are not recorded yet, however I have been offered some help (thanks Mike) to enable me to make some progress. The recording process is likely to be slow but at least it keeps the possibility of progress on the album alive.

When the songs are recorded they will be made available online but the album of songs will not be available as a CD. Yet again my back prevents me from the level of activity needed to formally release and promote the album, but at least I hope to make the tracks available at some point.

Luckily I have some very helpful family, friends and fans who have offered to help, so you'll just have to watch this space! Sign up for my newsletter and I will try to keep you up to date with any developments. Special thanks to Karen for helping to type up any updates and for helping me update my sites when I am unable to do so.

Meanwhile you can find links to my last finished recording, one of the songs I intended putting on the album, "Awaken". This was recorded during 2003 and re-mixed in February 2005.

I do have some older tracks recorded and if I get a chance I will try and upload them to one of my music pages.

While you are here, have a listen to my tracks and if you like what you hear, please join my newsletter and, of course, tell all your friends!

Background

I'm a singer, songwriter, and producer with 34 years of playing experience.

After playing in bands for years as the main singer songwriter I've been more focused on writing and production for the last few years. The last time I played live was in 2000. It was broadcast on Radio Scotland as part of the 10th birtday celebration for the Cathouse nightclub in Glasgow.

My main bands were Beyond The Edge in the 80s and then Needful Things in the 90s.

After years of playing other bands it's refreshing to finally be solo. That said I've a great bunch of supportive musical friends who always help out with recordings.

I have to say thanks to all the many people who have supported my Musical endeavours through the years. There are too numerous names to mention, so just a big thanks to you all!
